200-hour Yoga Alliance accredited Yoga Teacher Training

COURSE OUTLINE

140 HOURS: FOUNDATIONS FOR TEACHING YOGA AND SPECIALIZED YOGA WORKSHOP TOPICS

The “meat and potatoes” of the course. This is where you will learn all the basic elements of what it takes to become a yoga teacher and deepen your own yoga practice as well. Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

  • An in-depth study of yoga postures and breathing techniques (modifications, variations, benefits, adjustments)
  • Yoga anatomy and physiology
  • History of yoga
  • Different styles of yoga
  • Principles of alignment
  • Mindfulness and Jewish Mindfulness
  • Ethics for yoga teachers and professional ethics from a Jewish perspective
  • The use of language
  • The use of props
  • Adjusting and assisting
  • Yoga and Judaism
  • Creating a yoga business
  • Yoga for different populations
  • Yoga and safety
  • And more …

THE ADDITIONAL 60 HOURS THAT MUST BE COMPLETED ARE:
15 hours – Mentorship: Attending one of our instructors classes or working with your own local instructor if you can’t come to our instructors’ class.. This entails participating in yoga classes and observing yoga classes (and asking and recording some questions and answers about the class).Note: If you work with another instructor then we need to add this teacher to our staff by providing their bio and info.

25 hours – Lifestyle & Philosophy Hours – watching pre-recorded videos and other learning formats to learn topics on mindful eating, wellness, health, Jewish spirituality, yoga lifestyle etc.  What we call the “off the mat” yoga.

10 hours – Guided Anatomy Study: Independent study hours which you do on your own. We will send you the name of the book and provide you with a study guide which you fill out as you are reading the book. At the end of your reading hours we will send you an open-book test, which you will need to return to us for marking.

10 hours – Practicum/Volunteer Teaching: Independent study where you find your own student(s) to volunteer teach and record a synopsis of the session on a worksheet provided by KinneretYoga.
