140 HOURS: FOUNDATIONS FOR TEACHING YOGA AND SPECIALIZED YOGA WORKSHOP TOPICS
The “meat and potatoes” of the course. This is where you will learn all the basic elements of what it takes to become a yoga teacher and deepen your own yoga practice as well. Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
THE ADDITIONAL 60 HOURS THAT MUST BE COMPLETED ARE:
15 hours – Mentorship: Attending one of our instructors classes or working with your own local instructor if you can’t come to our instructors’ class.. This entails participating in yoga classes and observing yoga classes (and asking and recording some questions and answers about the class).Note: If you work with another instructor then we need to add this teacher to our staff by providing their bio and info.
25 hours – Mindful Eating Shabbaton
This is part of the hours from the Philosophy, Lifestyle, and Ethics for Yoga Teachers category for Yoga Alliance certification. The lifestyle category looks at the Yoga Teachers life off the mat versus on the mat. Our training program uses the experience of Shabbat ,and the 3 traditional main meals of shabbat, to look at: how we relate to food, how we eat more mindfully, and the beauty of the restfulness of Shabbat and how it can enhance our life physically and spiritually. Location and date to be announced.
10 hours – Guided Anatomy Study: Independent study hours which you do on your own. We will send you the name of the book and provide you with a study guide which you fill out as you are reading the book. At the end of your reading hours we will send you an open-book test, which you will need to return to us for marking.
10 hours – Practicum/Volunteer Teaching: Independent study where you find your own student(s) to volunteer teach and record a synopsis of the session on a worksheet provided by KinneretYoga.
